WMC Unlimited

De activiteiten van WMC Unlimited zorgen ervoor dat de 75-jarige jubileumeditie van het Wereld Muziek Concours 2026 een feest is waar écht iedereen kan meedoen. Tijdens dit grootste blaasmuziekfestival ter wereld, dat van 9 juli tot en met 2 augustus 2026 in Kerkrade losbarst, staat dit project volledig in het teken van diversiteit, inclusie en participatie.

Muziek kent immers geen grenzen en is de ultieme universele taal die mensen verbindt. WMC Unlimited brengt een hartverwarmend, laagdrempelig programma naar het centrum en de wijken van Kerkrade met als doel het WMC toegankelijk te maken voor iedereen. De activiteiten zorgen voor een veilige, drempelloze omgeving waarin alle inwoners en bezoekers kunnen meedoen, ongeacht leeftijd, beperking en sociaalculturele achtergrond. Het WMC draait immers niet alleen om de top van de blaasmuziek, maar ook om het ervaren van de verbindende kracht van muziek in al haar facetten.

10 July	8:00 PM — Rodahal, Kerkrade — Free admission New Talent Orchestras Project Day 120 musicians from over 25 Limburg New Talent Orchestras perform together on the grand stage of the Rodahal. Free entry.
16 July	8:00 PM — HUB Kerkrade, MF Hall — €7.50 Between the Notes: Jetske Stoop — Music as Medicine Medical researcher at Erasmus MC on how targeted music listening demonstrably reduces anxiety, stress and pain in healthcare. Tickets via HUB Kerkrade.
17 July	10:00 – 18:00 — HUB Kerkrade & Market Square, Kerkrade — Free WMC Unlimited Day A full day of music, connection and inspiration. Morning: inspiration session for professionals (registration required). Afternoon: festive music program on the Market Square with 8 orchestras and bands. Freely accessible.
23 July	8:00 PM — HUB Kerkrade, MF Hall — €7.50 Between the Notes: Thomas Boettcher — Lecture & Workshop Blind pianist, composer and conductor on how music becomes a boundless, inclusive language when other senses take over. Tickets via HUB Kerkrade.

30 July	8:00 PM — HUB Kerkrade, MF Hall — €7.50 Between the Notes: Koen Versleijen — Resilience Expert by experience living with Usher syndrome on how culture, music and community offer perspective when overcoming life's greatest challenges. Tickets via HUB Kerkrade.

WMC Unlimited Day

An afternoon of music, connection and inspiration

Under the umbrella of the social programme WMC Unlimited, the World Music Contest (WMC) makes wind music accessible to everyone. On Friday 17 July 2026, musicians with an intellectual disability will take to the stage on the Markt in Kerkrade to show that musical talent and the joy of playing know no limits.

The WMC warmly invites care organisations, welfare organisations, cultural partners and other interested parties to experience this special day together.

Inspiration session Music & Diversity

A substantive morning for professionals, cultural practitioners and care partners. Real-world examples, networking and concrete tools for inclusive music-making. Registration recommended.

WMC Unlimited Day — Festival afternoon

8 orchestras and bands, including international participants, perform a festive musical programme. With contributions from Sjpaskapel WLVD and RonnyRon. Free admission.
