Sinfonisches Blasorchester Ried
Wind Band Concert division
Bio
The SINFONISCHES BLASORCHESTER RIED has become a hallmark of Austrian symphonic wind music. As a result of years of consistent work, the orchestra has evolved from a student wind orchestra founded in 1988 at the music school in Ried into a leading international wind band. This path is also documented by first prizes at national and international competitions – such as the WORLD MUSIC CONTEST in Kerkrade and the CERTAMEN INTERNATIONAL DE BANDAS DE MUSICA in Valencia. CD and DVD productions, as well as radio recordings, demonstrate the orchestra's high level. The SINFONISCHES BLASORCHESTER RIED regularly commissions works from local and international composers. Many music teachers, conductors and professional orchestra musicians have emerged from the ranks of the orchestra. Therefore it plays a key role in the quality development of regional wind orchestras. The orchestra has been conducted by Karl Geroldinger since its founding.
