Bio

The Symphonic Wind Orchestra (SBO) Bitburg-Prüm was founded in 1995 by dedicated musicians from the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm. Since then, the orchestra has developed into an important musical ambassador for the region and has achieved several successes at national and international competitions. Today, the SBO consists of over 70 musicians from around 30 music clubs within the district music association of Bitburg-Prüm. Since its founding, the orchestra has been led by Thomas Rippinger, the deputy director of the Eifelkreis music school and district conductor. The SBO primarily focuses on the performance of concert band music, including original works, transcriptions, and arrangements of musical, film, and entertainment music. Additionally, the orchestra promotes the further education of talented musicians to enhance the musical quality across the entire region.The Symphonic Wind Orchestra Bitburg-Prüm is participating in the WMC for the eighth time since 1997.
