Koninklijke Fanfare de Werkmanszonen
Fanfare band 1st division
Bio
Koninklijke Fanfare De Werkmanszonen was founded by field and factory workers in 1896. During the course of its history it developped into a leading orchestra in the region. In the late '70's the fanfare band evolved into an independent association and gained national and international recognition. As the flagship of Belgium's most musical municipality, Riemst, the band has participated in every edition of the World Music Contest since 1993, maintaining a steady streak of gold medals. Led by Yves Wuyts, the orchestra alternates contest appearances with one-of-a-kind projects and concert tours. They perform a versatile repertoire, from traditional fanfare music to film music and big band standards. Especially for the 2026 competition, De Werkmanszonen had Ludovic Neurohr write a symphonic poem combining ancient instruments from the Roman era with the typical warm fanfare band sound. This exceptional piece revolves around Ambiorix, the bravest of the Belgians according to legend.
