Harmonieorkest De Volksgalm vzw

Wind band Concert division

Bio

De Volksgalm was founded in 1924 by about 20 spirited people and soon became a fully-fledged harmony. In 1962 Mr Kicken became the new conductor. With this experienced musician De Volksgalm won several first prizes and championship titles in the highest division. In 1989 the baton was handed over to Sandro Moretti, with whom we experienced a first highlight in 1996 with the title of Provincial Champion. In July 1997 at the 13th WMC in Kerkrade, our orchestra won the world title in the 3rd division. Since 23 March 2003, our orchestra has been under the capable leadership of Frenk Rouschop. The most impressive result was undoubtedly the one achieved at the WMC Contest in 2009. There our orchestra became World Champion in the 1st division with 97.08% of the points, an unprecedented result. In 2017, we reached the top at the 17th WMC, where we became World Champions in 1st Division for the 3rd time with a total of 96.08% of the points with an iconic performance of "El Jardin de las Hesperides" by Spanish composer José Suner-Oriola. In 2022, we successfully participated at the WMC for the first time in our existence in the Concert Division with 93.53% result.
