Brass Band Treize Etoiles was founded in 1973 and was initially led by Michel Barras. The name Treize Etoiles (meaning 13 stars) refers to the 13 stars on the Valais flag. In 1977, Géo-Pierre Moren took over as conductor. The following year, under Moren's leadership, the band won its first Swiss Championship, qualifying them for the 1979 European Championship in London, where they placed 4th. A major highlight came in 2005 when they won the inaugural World Brass Band Championship in Kerkrade, Netherlands. In 2018, after 41 years at the helm of the band, Géo-Pierre Moren decided to step down and was replaced by Frédéric Théodoloz. For its 50th anniversary in 2023, the band shone in every contest it entered, marking a turning point in its history. It secured its first-ever European Championship title in Malmö, Sweden, won the Swiss Open, and capped the year with an exceptional double win, with both the A and B bands winning the Swiss Championship in Lucerne. Finally, in 2024, Brass Band Treize Étoiles completed its collection of accolades by winning the prestigious British Open at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, establishing itself as one of the world’s leading brass bands.
