Agrupación Musical do Rosal
Wind Band Concert division
Bio
The Banda de Música da Agrupación Musical O Rosal, founded in 1986, is one of the most recognized Wind Bands in Galicia. With Javier Alonso Pérez as conductor, it is recognized for its innovative spirit and for developing projects that combine tradition and modernity. In addition to educational, chamber and choral concerts, it has organized the Festival de Músicos Xoves since 1989 and, since 2020, the O Rosal Cámara Fest, taking music to all corners of the town. Its versatility is reflected in collaborations with soloists and groups of very diverse styles, ranging from traditional to contemporary music and even pop.The Wind Band has an outstanding record: 1st Prize in the Valencia International Competition (2003), 1st Prize in the Campo de Criptana Contest (2005), multiple first prizes in regional and Galician competitions (1995-1996-2002-2003-2009-2010-2011-2024), as well as distinctions such as the Galician Criticism Music Award (1999), the Are-More Award of the City of Vigo (2004) and the Provincial Culture Award (2013). Currently formed by 100 musicians—many of them students in higher conservatories and members of professional orchestras—, the band has premiered works by contemporary composers, published five CDs and has consolidated itself as a cultural reference in Galicia and Spain.
