Orchesterverein Hilgen 1912 e.V.

Harmonieorkest Concert divisie

Bio

The OVH is an orchestra with 70 to 80 active musicians, with tradition and roots, open to entertaining programs and – through the music and orchestra school supported by the association, as well as regular events for children – also active in promoting young talents. Above all, however, the OVH is an ensemble that establishes symphonic wind music as a form of performance characterized by rich colors and a variety of instruments – with classical and modern ‘serious’ music, with arrangements and original compositions, including many world premieres. In addition to performances in the region (Altenberg Cathedral, Cologne Opera and Theatre, WDR Funkhaus Cologne, Effelsberg Radio Telescope, etc.), tours and competitions have taken the OVH to Brazil, Italy, Luxembourg and Austria. At the German Orchestra Competition, the OVH consistently won first prize since 1996, four times as the top-ranked orchestra and thus national winner, most recently in June 2025 in Wiesbaden. In all these activities, the OVH has repeatedly been praised by experts, performers and audiences for its musically captivating style of performance, its extraordinary repertoire and distinctive sound identity.
