Opus 82
Harmonieorkest Concert divisie
Bio
Opus 82 has distinguished itself over the past ten years with strong placements in the elite division of the Norwegian Championships for wind bands. With one 2nd place and two 3rd places (2025, 2023, and 2019), the band has established itself among the top five amateur wind bands in Norway. Comprising around 50 skilled amateur musicians, the band explores original compositions for wind orchestra as well as popular music, folk music, and classical orchestral repertoire. As an example of collaboration with other cultural institutions and community engagement, the band performs in the traditional production of The Nutcracker ballet at Bærum Kulturhus. Opus 82 is the only ensemble in the world to perform the entire ballet with a wind orchestra instrumentation. In addition to participating in the national championships and major productions, the band holds concerts and performs at various events throughout the year. Opus 82 received Bærum Municipality’s Cultural Award in 2022. Since autumn 2023, the band’s permanent conductor has been Leif Arne Pedersen, renowned clarinetist with the Oslo Philharmonic and former conductor of the Royal Norwegian Air Force Band. Opus 82 was founded in 1982 and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022.
