Harmonie Municipale de Mondercange
Harmonieorkest 3e divisie
Bio
Founded in 1903, the 'Monnerecher Musek' has grown from modest beginnings to become a dynamic and forward-looking wind orchestra. After facing decades of challenges in finding a suitable rehearsal space, the members started building their own music hall in 1961 — a major milestone in the group's history. The 1990s saw a revival thanks to strong youth engagement, resulting in the formation of the 'Monnerecher Jongbléiser' in 1995 and the 'Monnerecher Minibléiser' in 2006. In the same year, the orchestra officially became the 'Harmonie Municipale de Mondercange' (HMM). Since 2012, under the baton of conductor Sebastian Geis, the HMM has returned to national and international competitions. Highlights include winning first prize with distinction at the 2016 UGDA contest and receiving a 'Gold Award' at the 2019 'World Orchestra Festival' in Vienna, where the band became the first Luxembourgish wind orchestra to perform in the 'Golden Hall' of the 'Musikverein'. In 2025, the HMM competed in the first category of the prestigious 'Flicorno d'Oro' competition in Italy, earning an impressive 86.35 points. The orchestra is now setting its sights on its next major challenge in 2026: the renowned 'Wereld Muziek Concours' in Kerkrade.
