Bio
Brass-aux-Saxes aims to make music at the highest level. Under the baton of conductor Jan Van Hove, the musicians strive to offer their audience an intense and moving musical experience with every performance. The orchestra is made up of passionate musicians from Antwerp, Limburg, and Flemish Brabant. Based in Westerlo, Brass-aux-Saxes has collaborated with international soloists and renowned artists such as Raymond van het Groenewoud, Bert Joris, Kommil Foo, and Jan De Smet. Brass-aux-Saxes takes part in festivals and competitions both at home and abroad. It has achieved excellent results, including becoming World Champion in the First Division for fanfare bands at the 2009 World Music Contest in Kerkrade (NL), and winning the Flemish Open Fanfare Championship (VLOF) in the superior division in 2018. The orchestra is also committed to expanding the repertoire for fanfare band through commissioned compositions. It has premiered works by renowned composers such as Philip Sparke, Piet Swerts, Jef Neve, and Werner Van Cleemput.
