Bio

Symphonic Band of Samacá – Review Founded on June 23, 2008, in Boyacá, Colombia, the Symphonic Band of Samacá began with 125 young musicians. In 2013, it represented Colombia at the Vendimia Festival in Mendoza, Argentina. Two years later, the band won first place in both the Departmental and National Band Competitions in the basic category, also earning the Best Piece of Honor award. That same year, it participated in the National Festival El Pescador in San Andrés Islands. In 2021, the band achieved first place in the National Youth Band Competition in La Vega. In 2022, it repeated its success at the Departmental Competition, receiving additional awards for Best Performance, Best Director, and Best Instrumentalist, and was invited to the IX Wind and Brass event at the International Music Festival FIMCANCUN in Mexico. The band continued its winning streak in 2023, securing top honors at the Departmental and National Competitions, as well as at the National Competition of Unpublished Bambuco in Tocancipá. In 2024, it triumphed at the International Band Competition in Valencia, Spain (Third Section), and at the National Band Competition in Anapoima, Cundinamarca, in the high category. Today, the Symphonic Band of Samacá is recognized as one of Colombia’s leading symphonic ensembles.
