Bio
The Banda de Música Municipal de Caldas de Reis was founded in 2005 in Caldas de Reis, Galicia, Spain. Since then, it has been actively promoting culture through numerous annual concerts, cultural trips, and participation in wind band competitions across Spain and Portugal. The ensemble is made up of approximately 70 musicians, mostly young people, whose enthusiasm and dedication continue to drive the band’s musical development. Each year, the band performs concerts featuring renowned soloists, major symphonic works for wind ensemble, vocal collaborations, world premieres, and festive Christmas programs, among others. The band also regularly presents educational concerts for children and chamber performances that support the growth of its affiliated music school. Over its 20-year history, the band has won numerous awards in international competitions, most notably First Prizes at the 136th ‘Ciudad de Valencia’ International Band Competition and the 17th Galician Band Competition, both in 2024. Over the years, the band has been led by conductors Milagros Valiño Ferreiro, Daniel Portas González, and Diego Fortes Conde. Since 2021, its conductor has been Javier Penido Ferreiro.
