What is the Dutch Open?
Concert Division
In late 2007, the fourth Dutch Open Concert Division was held.
The contests in the Concert Division are intended for the world's best amateur wind and brass bands. In this division, which is intended as an incubator for wind and brass band music, bands are given the opportunity to show what they can do in a one-hour concert. There is a particular focus on the development of original wind and brass band music, although wind bands, in particular, have demonstrated on countless occasions their talents when it comes to large symphonic arrangements.
Renowned soloists have appeared on this podium in the past. In this way, the worlds top amateurs and professionals have been brought together, which has resulted in a great deal of synergy and a boost to the development of wind and brass band music.
The next Dutch Open Concert Division will be organised in 2011 during the 60 Years Anniversary of WMC. Specific Friday September 30, Saturday Oktober 1 and Sunday Obtober 2 in the rejuvenated Rodahal.
