Leading wind music events join forces
Unique Collaboration
RIC is an initiative of the festival organizations WMC (World Music Contest), NBK (Dutch Brass Band Championships) and ONFK (Open Dutch Fanfare Championships) and the MUI (Music Lending and Information Centre). Through a partnership with the national music associations, KNFM (Royal Dutch Federation of Music Associations) and VNM (United Dutch Music Federations) and "Kunstbalie" in Tilburg, all major interest groups in the amateur wind music sector are involved with RIC.
Joint structure
RIC has the task to create a joint structure in the existing and new repertoire for wind music associations and percussion ensembles. Therefore, the mentioned organizations work together with the MUI (Music Lending and Information Centre) "Kunstbalie", the expertise Centre for cultural education and amateur art.
Knowledge Centre
Especially now that the national umbrella institution "Kunstfactor" no longer performs tasks related to repertoire, there are no new developments put in motion. RIC is now fully committed to these developments. Therefore, the MUI and "Kunstbalie" use their own knowledge and manpower to make RIC a success! With the latest tools and media RIC intends to make all repertoire information available.
Main tasks and selection
The selection and evaluation of works for the various festivals and concert contests, putting together the small and large repertoires for the union contests for wind music and percussion, and adequately manage and make available the collection of scores (including heritage scores) are among the main tasks of RIC. Subsequently, committees of independent experts from the field will judge and select the repertoire.
International
The RIC also intends to involve international parties in the collaboration. Such as the Flemish Amateur Music Organisation (VLAMO) and the Norwegian Music Federation (NMF), for thorough knowledge, financial resources and other relevant forces.
