Dutch Open for Show Bands unfortunately cancelled
The Dutch Open championships for Show Bands were central to the first contest weekend of WMC 60. These contests were programmed in the Parkstad Limburg Stadion in Kerkrade.
The board of the World Music Contest Kerkrade has decided, based on the limited number of registrations for the above championship, to cancel this competition. Offering a new national championship for the Show Division, between two WMC editions, is thus postponed.
Considering the reactions of the registered bands, WMC will review this issue with the show industry. WMC continues to focus on developing and improving competitions for the wind music industry. Perhaps in the future, a new national competition may be offered.
The European Championship Corps Style, hosted by Drum Corps Europe (DCE) in collaboration with WMC, will proceed in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium on Saturday, September 24th, as well as the demonstration Drum Battle on Friday night at the Market in Kerkrade.
