Press conference WMC 60 in Aachen succesful
The greatest wind music festival in the world, WMC Kerkrade, celebrates its 60th Anniversary, therefore WMC went to Haus Löwenstein in Aachen to present the highlights of the program. With this location WMC made a statement that they want to manifest themselves greater in the regions around Kerkrade. The international present press enjoyed the insights in the program presented by Artistic Director Harrie Reumkens. The program is entirely dedicated to rejuvenation and renewal.
That WMC is widely supported, even by our neighbor and partner municipalities, is shown in the interest and contribution from the mayor of Aachen, Marcel Phillipp, representatives from the city of Herzogenrath, and the support from VIA2018, Maastricht Cultural Capital. Guido Wevers gave an impassioned speech about the importance of WMC for VIA2018.
WMC60
WMC 60 consists of a diverse program of contests and concerts on the highest level. In the period from September 22nd through October 2nd Kerkrade looks back briefly at the past, but mainly focuses on the future. Highlights of the program include the opening opera "The Priest and His Servant Balda, "a dazzling performance by the legendary WDR Big Band and Wolfgang Niedecken and the concert of the rejuvenating jazz band New Cool Collective. Subsequently, especially for the WMC fans, WMC made it possible for the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery to perform in the Rodahal once more. After more than 60 years they return to the city of Kerkrade, the basis of WMC, for a surprise concert. The press conference has been accompanied by the launch of the Ticket sale of WMC60.
