4e Internationale Ronde Tafel Conferentie op 23 en 24 juli 2009

 

De vierde Internationale Ronde Tafel Conferentie tijdens het WMC van 2009 richt zich op drie zeer actuele thema's:

- Muziekonderwijs in de basiseducatie
- De ontwikkeling van de concertafdeling voor harmonie/fanfare/brassband en concertant slagwerk
- Community Building en de relatie met het (muziek) verenigingsleven

 

Het centrale thema van de conferentie zal het, vaak onderschatte, sociaal maatschappelijke belang zijn van amateur blaas- en slagwerkmuziek alsmede het behoud van deze belangrijke muziektak voor komende generaties. Daarbij gaat het om de wisselwerking tussen beide: "Wat kan de samenleving betekenen voor muziekverenigingen en wat kunnen deze bijdragen aan de samenleving?" Nauw hiermee samenhangend is de organisatie van muziekonderwijs in de basiseducatie. Hiernaast wordt de ontwikkeling van de concertafdeling besproken en de kansen hiervoor in de slagwerksector.

 

De conferentie is bedoeld voor internationale blaasmuziekorganisaties en -instituten, en hen die daar rechtstreeks mee te maken hebben: bestuurders, dirigenten, componisten, uitgevers, juryleden, musici en andere geïnteresseerden.

 

WMC werkt bij de organisatie van de conferentie samen met de Nederlandse landelijke muziekorganisaties, de LBM en Kunstfactor.

 

De conferentie vindt plaats in Congrescentrum Rolduc (Kerkrade) en heeft een sterk interactief karakter. Per thema wordt eerst een aantal inleidingen verzorgd door deskundigen uit verschillende betrokken landen. Zo zijn er sprekers uit Nederland, België, Duitsland, Groot Brittanië, Spanje en de USA. Hierna vinden er discussies plaats in subgroepen, waarbij de input van deelnemers gevraagd wordt. De resultaten zullen worden vastgelegd in een conferentieboek dat na afloop gepubliceerd zal worden.

 

Beide dagen zullen worden afgesloten met bezoek aan een concert of een concertwedstrijd. Op donderdag is dat het concert van het Europees Jeugd Harmonieorkest o.l.v. Jan Cober (Rodahal). Op vrijdag zijn dat concertwedstrijden in de concertafdeling harmonie (Rodahal).

 

 

 

Deelname aan de conferentie is gratis. Overnachtingen en maaltijden zijn voor eigen rekening. Inschrijven is mogelijk bij WMC: Stichting WMC Kerkrade - Postbus 133 - 6460 AC Kerkrade - info@wmc.nl. Inschrijvers ontvangen vooraf een conferentieprogramma.

Music is a prerequisite for community building

Conference program

 

Introduction

  • Since 1997 WMC organizes an International Round Table Conference during WMC in Kerkrade. The subjects of this year's conference are:
    • Music teaching in primary education.
    • Development of the Concert Division for wind music and percussion.
    • Community building and the role of music societies.
  • The goals of the conference are:
    • Bring music teaching in the primary education on the agenda of governmental and music organizations.
    • Take stock of the developments regarding the concert division (what will be the future direction ?) and align the visions of WMC and music federations.
    • Take stock of the (different ?) trends in community building in several parts of Europe and make the opportunities and challenges clear.
  • The round table conference will be organized for an international audience of participants which are involved in the subjects. Location is Rolduc Abbey.
  • The conference will have a strong interactive character. Plenary key note speeches will be alternated with group discussions. Discussions will start with several thesis and be supported by discussion leaders and facilitators.
